The next exhibition with works by Abeer Farhoud will take place at Frankfurt Airport's 'The Squaire' from March 2025.
Many people who arrive or depart from Frankfurt Airport are familiar with this place. It's the futuristic glass building that houses the long-distance train station and the Hilton Hotel.
One might wonder why art is being shown there. Frankfurt Airport has implemented numerous projects with artists in recent years. The exhibition area is located in a very busy part of the airport. Several thousand people work there, and even more people begin their journeys there.
The exhibition is designed so that you can view these special installations 24/7, in peace and quiet, and let them have an impact on you.
We have the opportunity to show the work there for about two months.
Since Bashar al-Assad's escape, all prisoners have been freed from the torture prisons. These works tell the story of Abeer, who was also in one of these prisons. She survived and tries to depict the unspeakable through these works.
Against forgetting!
Important note regarding the content of the installation descriptions for people with traumatic experiences, children and young people.
The following texts describe in stark terms the experiences of artist and activist Abeer Farhoud. Each of the installations tells the story of a woman or man she met in prison. In 2021, I conducted an 'interview' with her and thus obtained all the information about the individual works.
